Bonny Poon / Conditions is happy to announce the in-person viewing for Trash R Us by Dani Leder. Trash R Us is a commissioned suite of works that includes two collages, a temporal bracket (the birth of Christ, May Day), and an audio piece, marking Leder's first foray into sound.
What began as a page-bound series in the Illiberal Arts catalogue for the eponymous group exhibition at Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin, now adopts the format of a magnified mind map. Made in 2021 in the heat of the covid-19 pandemic / global shutdown, Leder's first paper iterations broached states of unrest, death, value, and inertia. One year after, Trash R Us (2022) offers a matricidal multimedia tour of our shared viral burden and libido.
Leder's mind maps are zeitgeist artifacts that string found photographs and texts with her handwriting in an ambulatory dreamlike logic. For Trash R Us, two large collages on archival acrylic sheet, Energy Crisis 1 & 2 (2022), tackle self and psychical questions — amassed for us here, like a professor's bloated whiteboard, like a hungry sleuth’s grid of incriminating debris.
